Question: What does absolute age mean?

Absolute age is the numeric age of a layer of rocks or fossils. Absolute age can be determined by using radiometric dating. The age of the fossil will be an age range between the ages of the two volcanic layers.

Whats our era called?

Cenozoic Our current era is the Cenozoic, which is itself broken down into three periods. We live in the most recent period, the Quaternary, which is then broken down into two epochs: the current Holocene, and the previous Pleistocene, which ended 11,700 years ago.
