Is getting married at 18 illegal?

The legal minimum age of marriage is 18 for both boys and girls. A person between 16 and 18 years may apply to a judge or magistrate in a state or territory for an order authorizing marriage to a person who has attained 18 years, but the marriage of the minor still requires parental or guardian consent.

Can a 18 year old marry a 17?

If you are 18 years or older, you can marry without your parents permission. If you are 16 or 17 years old, you can marry if you have your parent or guardians permission or a court order allowing you to get married. You cannot marry in Alberta if you are under 16 years of age.

Can you marry at 17?

Generally, each person must be at least 18 years old to get married. However, sometimes 15, 16 and 17 year olds can marry. People who are 17 can get married if the person who is 17 gets consent from the parents or guardian the person who has legal custody or control over a minor.
